Sender ID is the alpha-numeric name or number which appears on the mobile phone of the receiver as the sender of an SMS (It is used to identify who’s sending the message to the recipient).
Promotional SMS India – 6 numeric and fixed from the operator. For example 777777
Transactional message India – 6 Alphabetic characters without any numeric. For example, “CITIBA”
Criteria for making sending id:
- Must not contain blank spaces
- The first character cannot be “0” (zero)
- Must not contain accented characters
- Must not contain punctuated/special characters, such as * $ < , > ? ! % [ ] | \
- Must not contain Greek characters
- Must not just be the name of an individual
- Source Addresses are case sensitive
International SMS can have alphanumeric sender-id (of maximum 11 characters), however, the rules may differ from country to country.
